Yes, seriously. Just include the option to turn it off/on.

I'm not familiar with the VRAGE engine, so I don't know specifically what would have to be done, but there are a fair number of free text-to-speech libraries, and I know C# has this functionality built into .NET. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.speech.synthesis.speechsynthesizer.aspx

I know this isn't a gamechanging feature, but it'll probably result in a lot more videos of the game being made, which is great for publicity.

It's hard, really hard and expensive. I like the idea, but i think they cannot add this [frown]

...what do you mean? There are many free text-to-speech libraries, and I even posted a link to the buillt-in C# voice synthesizer in .NET. As far as I can tell, the game engine is C#.

Yes, doing this (Moonbase Alpha style), would be trivial, specially considering (as far as I know) the chat system is not even there yet. Although I think that it has potential for terribly crippling the online experience (see video). But hey, if it's toggle-able, why not?

I'd particularly like to see in-game audio synthesis (and TTS ontop of that) for Sound Blocks, so we can generate custom audio content for alarms/warnings/greetings/threats.
